Countries like Norway and Sweden were much more maritime than today, and people almost entirely dependent on the waterways for travel. But travel by water was not always possible. The river or lake might suddenly be broken up by dangerous rapids or a passage of land. For these purposes, almost every maritime culture has practiced some form of portage - the act of transporting a vessel over land, to the next body of water. From the Scottish Highlands to the Caspian Sea, it is most associated with the Vikings...

To those who like the word «Moscovia» and try to overwrite the Russian history in the interests of the west. Just make a few simple steps: 1. Open the works of Byzantine emperor Constantine VII like «De Ceremoniis». 2. Find a line about the visit of Olga of Kiev in Byzantine. 3. Look closely. The Kievan Rus’ is named not any other than ROSIA (Ρωσία in Greek). In Russian language Russia has always been called РОССИЯ that sounds the same as ROSIA. 4. Look for an etymology of Russia in Oxford English Dictionary. Surprise! The word «Russia» has been used in Western Europe in 11th century! There is no any «Moscovia» mentioned, sorry guys 😢 5. For those who are very curious you can also open the ancient Russian historical works. The most popular and the oldest is «Primary Chronicle». It tells about the ancient Russian history, including the creation of Russian state. Surprise (x2)! Russia began to exist as a state when Oleg (knyaz of Novgorod - Russian city) united the territory between Novgorod and Kiev. And when he arrived at Kiev he said: «Kiev will be the mother of RUSSIAN cities (it how it’s literally written in «Primary Chronicle»). Oh, by the way, the whole «Primary Chronicle» begins with such words: «This is the chronicle of the past years, the chronicle where is RUSSIAN land comes from, who was the first ruler of Kiev and how the RUSSIAN land started to exist». There is no any «Moscovia» mentioned, sorry guys 😢 (x2) Since 882 to 14th century Kiev was part and parcel of Russia. After the feudal fragmentation of Rus’ in the 12th century Kiev and the territories around it fragmented to Principality of Kiev that had its own authority, but was a part of single social, historical and cultural tradition of Ancient Russia. Only in 14th century Russia lost its west-southern territories including Kiev, because of the inner problems caused by feudal fragmentation and Mongolian conquers. Since then Kiev was firstly under Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Samogitia and RUSSIA (because Kiev and the surrounding territories was considered as Russian) and then under Poles, who have been ruining the traditions of Russian Orthodox culture and have been implanting the west catholic culture for three centuries. The population that has been descendant of ancient Rus’ and had the strong bonds with Tsardom of Russia has been rebellious to Poland. And in the 17th century Cossacks led by Bogdan Khmelnitsky called tsar Alexis of Russia for help in fighting the poles. Russia that gained strength by this time made the Pereiaslav Agreement with the Cossacks and started the war with Poland. The war was won by Russia and since then the most of the territory of modern Ukraine including Kiev returned to Russia till 1917. During the existence of Russian empire there were a lot of infrastructure and cities built on the territory of modern Ukraine, including Dnepr (original name is Ekaterinoslav - named in honour of Russian Empress Catherine the Great, who has found the city), Nikolaev (that was founded by Russian knyaz Grigory Potemkin in 1787) and Odessa (that was founded by Catherine the Great in 1794). After the October revolution in 1917 many regimes have been changed on the territory of modern Ukraine and in 1922 it returned to Russia as the Soviet Republic till 1991. So, leaning on the real historical documents and facts it seems that Russia (including the territory of modern Ukraine) has always been Russia, no Moscovia, no Tartaria, but Russia. A moment of a little logic: how do you think, is there a connection between the words «Rus’» and «Russia»? I don’t see any Moscovia, Tartaria or even Ukraine between them. How could it be?! I tell you how. The word «Moscovia» has been spread by Lithuanian-Polish propaganda since 15th century to rise their political impact in fighting with Russia. The centuries gone, but nothing changes! But the internet is open. So throw away the history book of «Kievan Rus’-Ukraine» that has never existed and that is sham for the western people who have never heard anything about Ukraine till 2022 (and barely heard anything of Russia either) and open the real historical sources with the real history. They will confirm everything that I have written.

The siblings in Ace of Base are probably related like Bodil in Timoteij etc. They have their deepest roots in Västergötland like Iryna... That explains their looks, musicality and spirituality.... Jenny is talking about in her biography seeing angels getting visions.. PS A careful count makes it probable with at least 100 000 related people today! With some It's obvious.. One of Iryna's daughters, Anna married the King of France! Henri de Bourgogne..in 11th c France...DS

Historical arguments from this time don't matter or give excuse for invading a sovereign nation. The same sovereign nation modern Russia recognized as sovereign and agreed to recognize the borders of in the Minsc accords. No amount of weaseling can excuse it. Ukraine was declared sovereign, as it has been many times in the past and for much of its history desired to be (for good reason). If people want to use these historical arguments then Sweden owns Russia and all the Asian peoples of the far east in current Russian territory are their own. It's such a reductionist, retarded view of the world and way to claim territory. Ethnicities, cultures, languages, nation and borders rise and fall throughout human history. That's the way it always has been and always will be and no, this isn't me speaking in support of either side of the current war, just the fact of the matter. People can twist and bend it to fit their narrative and make proclamations but I've yet to find a single person who can explain to me how everything I just said is null and void and show me how Russia can lay claim to these territories based on "ancient historical ties" while at the same time with a straight face also maintaining the claim of Chechñya, Dagistan, the central area of Russia and the far east who are east Asian. It's so unbelievable dumb

You mentioned the 'Ar-Rus', and promptly moved on, without any discussion.. ?? A few thoughts occur to me: ARD Rus*? I.e. High Rus Rus 'nobility'- ruling class. Mixed ethnicity, or ethnicity-within-ethnicity?? Re. such 'nobilities': They have a major influence in their people's language-culture, 'history' and even their distinct identity. They sometimes describe/compose such things as 'history' & identity with more than a sprinkle of 'seasoning'.. NB THEY ALSO CONFUSE/HIDE THE NARRATIVE RE. THEIR OWN ACTIVITIES & POWER, OR EVEN HIDE THEIR OWN EXISTENCE. Well, you DID move on promptly.. *I'm not intending to imply any claims re. the meaning of 'Rus' etc. However, Wikipedia DID disagree with some of what you say here. 'Just saying.. And thanks for a fascinating channel.

I think one of the reasons why the khazars wouldnt mention slavery was because it was so common in the region vs in europe where it was seen dubiously. Even though slavery was still practiced in Europe i think it was starting to become taboo. I mean during the viking age, both churches were already discussing the topic and finding ways to justify ending what had been a millinea old isntitution by that point. The byzantines even passed several laws regarding what masters could do woth their alaves regardless of religious beliefs. Same thing doeant exist in muslim countries

You aren't going to revive anything, though. So, great video and all... but I am a Vanir before anything else, including Slavic. And I am awaiting my Vafthrudnir to return and go to glorious battle and victory with the disgusting and barbaric AEsir. And you won't be able to use Vafthrudnir's true Van's to incorporate your Baaltic/Red empire. Wisdom is wisdom, right? Do not think the Vanir do not see what plots you concoct. Odin/Vodin/Vodnasz is no Vod at all. He and his ilk and kinsman will perish. We will hurl you back to Holmgard and beyond (No pun intended). Odin was shackled by a mere Njoror, a hostage himself. *"In Vanaheim wise powers him (Njoror) created, and to the gods a hostage gave. At the world's dissolution, he will return to the wise Vanir."* AEsir is pronounced often as "Ah-seer", not as people today would say "Ay-seer" because of the AE character. They are all representations or manifestations of war, fighting, strength, etc. The Vanir, sometimes spelled with a W but still pronounced as a 'V' such as the Wanes. This family of 'gods' represents and manifests fertility, wisdom, knowledge, etc. Remember, both are considered as family's or lineages. AEsir is Ashur or Assyria/the tribe of Dan and from that tribe the antichrist will rise. Rus means red because the color "phoenike" (like an ochre, reddish/purple) was produced by the ancient Canaanites who were also, coincidentally, amazing sea-farers, merchants and pirates. There is a reason for all the red-haired and blonde-haired giants being found. And it isn't because your ancestors were cool giants. It's because they are the Ashur tribe of Dan which the entirety of Norse lore can (doesn't have to, but I'm saying it CAN) speculate at any time since they are stories based on far off memories of REAL people, such as Vodnasz, the One-eyed. In the Quran, the Dajjal (their antichrist figure for Muslim eschatology) has one eye and has "Kafir" meaning deceiver on his forehead. The Vanir are the righteous and wise kin of Noah's lineage, who, as many of you may know, landed atop Mount Ararat when the waters receded. The nearest lake to the mountain that was a crag/crater/etc with the ability to reservoir water, was Lake Van. My hometown in the Balkans (not raised there, but have an apartment as inheritance) in the fake country Macedonia or whatever you want to call it, I could care less, I am a Vanir after all and see right through the lies that rest of my people could not, is a little town about 30-40 minutes away from Ohrid and Lake Ohrid, which is the oldest lake in the world, called "Resen". I have never seen this name for a place ever used before either in history's past or now and I have done my fair share of the "jack-of-all-trades" type of research, if you will, and nothing. Except for one place. Google search the places that the first globalist city builder, i.e Nimrod from the Old Testament, had built and named. I believe in Germanic/Frankish or something it is "Resne". You can already see the etymological link to RED in it. And by the way, Ohrid having the oldest lake means it was the first thing to get filled up after flood waters receded. It's very deep as it lays right on a HUGE crag. Scrying mirrors first started as just pails of water and looking into them. Now we have mirrors and crystal balls and other garbage. The water is where the real spiritual force comes from. Pay attention to the relationship of water and other things and you will convert to Christianity, not Orthodox, not Catholic, not Protestant, CHRISTIANITY. We are the Vanir. The few, the mighty and the proud. My mother knows too many practitioners of magic and ironically most of them live in or near Ohrid and Lake Ohrid. I don't think she knows what she is doing, but at least it's good to know these "magicians" are decent enough to offer the highest quality, freshly sourced from the oldest lake in the world and full of evil pre-flood spirits, who were so bad that they literally had to be flooded. Erik the Red, Leif Erikson, other characters. All having to do with blondness or redness and are "wild men". Around 1700 was his arrival to North America and at the same time we have the stories of the aboriginals here, about giant white wild men with red hair that invaded their lands. The aboriginals kicked their asses and once again, sent them back to Holmgard and beyond. Steel vs feathers and they lost. Imagine sucking that bad. I want all adherents to the Icelandic Commonwealth to read these words and read them well; Si vis pacem... hahahaha well, PARA BELLUM

Dude 'holm' is a hill not an island and 'gorodische' means fortified structure as well as 'gorod' (probably bigger)

Lunne (modern spelling if Hlunnar) is still used in Norwegian as both a verb (to store logs), and a noun (a pile of stored logs)

In Scotland (and I believe Ireland), there are many places (often villages) called Tarbert (13 in Scotland). This is derived from the old Gaelic TAR "across" and BER "to carry". These are all isthmuses between bodies of water. The most obvious one is Tarbert on the Isle of Harris
